In interior design the flooring in each room is one of the main elements that create its ambience. The texture, the raster and the colour scheme can optically increase or reduce the size of a room, they can make it “colder” or “hotter”, they can make people walk faster or slower in public buildings.
The thickness, hardness or softness of the flooring is also chosen depending on what room it will be used in. For example, soft well insulating flooring would be best for a child’s room, while in a big commercial space the choice would most probably be harder flooring which is ware resistant, non-slippery and easy to maintain.
We can give a lot more examples and solutions for each room depending on its functions, intensity of use and many other criteria, but the most important criteria of course being the wishes of the owners and the users.
